Environment

We are committed to environmental stewardship in our operations.

Recognising the responsibility of protecting our environment, we proactively minimise the energy, waste, air, and water pollution that arises from our operations. We endeavour to reduce the environmental effects across the full life cycle of our production sites and corporate operations.

BUA Foods maintains an ISO 14001:2015 certified Environmental Management System and allocates adequate resources to manage its environment and sustainability commitments while making necessary efforts to reduce and abate the environmental impacts associated with its operations by continually reviewing and adopting best practices that will ensure the Company meets its environmental commitments.

At our sites, we have installed silencers to manage noise pollution.

We also minimise our soot emission, wastewater discharge, and acts capable of resulting in deforestation. We have a brine recovery system in place to process and recover effluent.

We use alternative energy sources such as natural gas which is cleaner and therefore reduces our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Our packaging materials are also designed to be recycled. In general, we return almost 90% of our operational waste products in our Sugar, Rice, and Flour Divisions as alternative revenue sources.

We are committed to complying with globally acceptable standards through the certification of our health and safety practices

We plan to implement an enhanced environmental management system to ensure that our impact is within regulatory limits. We continue to invest in our business, allowing us to strengthen our value proposition, operate efficiently, and cater to the growing demand across all divisions. The Company has not been subject to any material fines or regulatory action involving non-compliance with environmental regulations.
